<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Systems_thinking\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Systems_thinking<\/a><\/li>\n<li>situated cognition\/authentic learning &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Situated_cognition\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Situated_cognition<\/a><\/li>\n<li>platform for collaboration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From the conference, I was especially moved by the keynote by Jane McGonigal.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 You can view the full talk here (<a href=\"http:\/\/new.livestream.com\/g4c\/janemcgonigal\">http:\/\/new.livestream.com\/g4c\/janemcgonigal<\/a>) She talked about the influence gaming can have on emotion, mental resilience, social relationship, self image, and engagement.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She challenged the community to work together to help measure and prove that games can have larger positive impact.\u00a0\u00a0 I loved her story behind the birth of <a title=\"SupperBetter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.superbetter.com\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.superbetter.com<\/a>.\u00a0 As a game designer, she created this game in response to a concussion she had experienced resulting in a period of profound depression.\u00a0\u00a0 In response to this dark time in her life, she designed the game to make small steps to wellness.\u00a0\u00a0 This game looks like it would be helpful to anyone going through a traumatic life event or illness. \u00a0I love that she collected her back story and academic literature review at <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.superbetter.com\/show-me-the-science-resilience-games-post-traumatic-growth-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/blog.superbetter.com\/show-me-the-science-resilience-games-post-traumatic-growth-and-more\/<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>In other contexts, Jane McGonigal has promoted the idea of online games that you play in the real world.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0For example, you should checkout <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=M-hzUGFD-Gc&amp;feature=player_embedded \" target=\"_blank\">World without oil<\/a>. \u00a0 While I feel some of the execution of the game can be improved, the game idea has really resonated with me.\u00a0\u00a0 As an aspiring game designer, I will definitely explore this concept more deeply.<\/p>\n<p>To the team that constructed the <a href=\"http:\/\/gamesForChange.org\" target=\"_blank\">gamesForChange.org<\/a> organization and conference, I greatly appreciate all of your work.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 You have given the world a lot to think about.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I am more convinced that online and real world games can create positive changes in health, education and our planet.<\/p>\n<p>What kind of social change do you want to make in education?\u00a0\u00a0 What are you passionate about teaching?\u00a0\u00a0 Can we use games to teach that topic? \u00a0When does teaching by gaming make sense?<\/p>\n\n<!-- Facebook Like Button v1.9.6 BEGIN [http:\/\/blog.bottomlessinc.com] -->\n<iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Finspiredtoeducate.net%2Finspiredtoeducate%2Fcan-gaming-have-a-positive-impact-to-students-answers-from-gamesforchange-org%2F&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=false&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowTransparency=\"true\" style=\"border:none;
