overflow:hidden; width:450px; height: 30px; align: left; margin: 2px 0px 2px 0px\"><\/iframe>\n<!-- Facebook Like Button END -->\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/inspiredtoeducate.net\/inspiredtoeducate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/hackForChange.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1414\" src=\"http:\/\/inspiredtoeducate.net\/inspiredtoeducate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/hackForChange.jpg\" alt=\"Hack For Change\" width=\"374\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inspiredtoeducate.net\/inspiredtoeducate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/hackForChange.jpg 374w, https:\/\/inspiredtoeducate.net\/inspiredtoeducate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/hackForChange-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/inspiredtoeducate.net\/inspiredtoeducate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/hackForChange-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/inspiredtoeducate.net\/inspiredtoeducate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/hackForChange-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 374px) 100vw, 374px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On May 31 \u2013 June 1, 2014, Middle Georgia citizens participated in the National Day of Civic Hacking(NDoCH), a fun weekend of community service using design, programming and technology. \u00a0In this national event, citizens across the nation explored challenges, created prototypes, and shared their solutions with their peers.<\/p>\n<p>Special Thanks to our supporters and sponsors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tagonline.org\/chapters-and-societies\/middle-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\">Middle Georgia TAG<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mercer.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Mercer University<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Knight Foundation<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cfcga.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Community Foundation of Middle Georgia<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Special thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StephenSFinney\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Finney<\/a> for being our fearless leader and organizing this engaging community service event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education through rapid prototyping<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I had the opportunity to work with a great team at the Macon NDoCH event to help propose a <a href=\"https:\/\/openideo.com\/challenge\/vibrant-cities\/evaluation\/instead-of-a-farmer-s-market-create-a-barter-market\" target=\"_blank\">barter market concept to help revitalize a city economy<\/a>. \u00a0 The Mercer students from our group enjoyed the opportunity to rapidly engineer a software solution. \u00a0 \u00a0In an agile fashion, we constructed user stories from a functional specification by <a href=\"https:\/\/openideo.com\/challenge\/vibrant-cities\/evaluation\/instead-of-a-farmer-s-market-create-a-barter-market\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Redondo<\/a> . \u00a0 \u00a0 Based on the stories, the team collectively drafted an entity relationship diagram on a white board talking through the design and making trade-off&#8217;s to keep the solution small. \u00a0 I think we all enjoyed pair programming since it enabled us to pump out code while teaching\/learning the tools and technology. \u00a0 \u00a0Our team from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.merc-mercer.org\" target=\"_blank\">Mercer Engineering Research Center <\/a>really enjoyed the \u00a0opportunity to learn collaboratively with the students. \u00a0 It was a blast!<\/p>\n<p>You can find our code at on my GitHub account:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/michaelprosario\">https:\/\/github.com\/michaelprosario<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Middle Georgia will have two MakerSpaces!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jay Flesher, community \u00a0and economic development\u00a0manager from Flint Energies, helped us kick-off the weekend with inspiration. \u00a0 Mr. Flesher announced a vision and plans for MakerSpace\/FabLab in Warner Robins, GA called &#8220;Crowd source innovations.&#8221; \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.macon.com\/2014\/02\/25\/2959167\/flint-project-to-promote-grass.html\" target=\"_blank\">Check out this article<\/a> for more details. \u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;m really excited about this announcement since it would help build the Maker community in our city, provide a place for innovation\/experimentation, and provide a place for STEM+Art outreach . \u00a0 As you may know.. I&#8217;m a big fan of project based learning and <a href=\"http:\/\/makered.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maker Education<\/a> . \u00a0Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/groups?home=&amp;gid=7459958&amp;trk=my_groups-tile-grp\" target=\"_blank\">CSI&#8217;s Linked-In community here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nadia Osman, director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegehillmacon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">College Hill Alliance<\/a> in Macon, announced a vision and movement in Macon, Georgia to build a community of Makers in Macon, Georgia. \u00a0 This community is aggressively working to implement a Macon Makers Space. \u00a0 Team members are invited to share their interest and insight at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maconmakers.com\/\">http:\/\/www.maconmakers.com\/<\/a>\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5RogBsRlIbM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>MakerSpaces are vital to our region in helping us diversity our economy, promote a culture of innovation, create jobs, and promoting &#8220;grass roots&#8221; learning experiences. \u00a0\u00a0Interested?
