Employers use Google to research the background of potential candidates. \u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s just part of the hiring process. \u00a0\u00a0If someone Googled you, what would they find? \u00a0\u00a0As an artist or designer, how do you get potential customers to notice your portfolio? \u00a0If you run a company or non-profit, how do you attract the community to come to your events and promote your values?<\/p>\n<p>I believe that building a platform of service is critical to growing your personal brand, growing your influence, or getting noticed. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Here\u2019s the great news! \u00a0\u00a0If social media is used intentionally, you can promote positive change and earn the trust of the community. \u00a0In addition, the cost of building a platform of service is VERY affordable.<\/p>\n<p>What are the Benefits of Building a Platform of Service?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Share your WHY:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> \u00a0Social media enables you to intentionally share your values and beliefs. \u00a0On InspiredToEducate.NET, our readers learn about some of our core values. \u00a0\u00a0We believe the world becomes a better place through great leadership. \u00a0Promoting quality education is imperative to our personal lives, families, businesses and our country. \u00a0\u00a0What core set of values do you need to share?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Giving generously through social media helps you to build trust:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> \u00a0I am a HUGE <\/span><a style=\"font-weight: normal;\" href=\"http:\/\/michaelhyatt.com\/\">Michael Hyatt fan<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">. \u00a0\u00a0He has a wonderful teaching called the \u201c20 to 1\u201d rule. \u00a0\u00a0In this teaching, he encourages you to form the habit of connecting your tribe with teaching that serves them. \u00a0In the context of Twitter, you should post 20 teachings that help your tribe members become awesome or more productive. \u00a0\u00a0After you have shared 20 times, feel free to ask your tribe for a favor:<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Consider signing up for a newsletter.<\/li>\n<li>Consider purchasing an e-book, app, or product.<\/li>\n<li>Consider attending an event.<\/li>\n<li>Consider helping us with a survey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><strong>Share your personality:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> People are motivated by stories and your personality. \u00a0\u00a0For me, I am intentional with the people I follow on blogs and twitter. \u00a0\u00a0I always appreciate when a blogger or writer is real. \u00a0\u00a0I enjoy hearing the stories of great times with families or businesses changing the world. \u00a0\u00a0I appreciate when authors share their struggle. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It helps me realize that I\u2019m not alone in growing. \u00a0Be funny! \u00a0Be bold! \u00a0\u00a0Be YOU!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Great teaching will get shared:<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> \u00a0<\/span><a style=\"font-weight: normal;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bnipodcast.com\/2013\/05\/15\/do-you-trust-advertising\/\">70% to 92% of consumers read reviews or ask their friends when making purchasing decisions<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"> or making choices about going to events. \u00a0\u00a0This data suggests that organizations need to create strategies so that tribe members are motivated to share your organization with their friends and professional contacts.
